P.S.H. helps by guiding the client's awareness into that part of the subconscious feeling mind where real change can take place. It requires a dedicated team effort, with the client accepting responsibility for his/her own recovery through cooperation and commitment to a process.
How does it feel? Each client's experience is an individual and subjective one, but there is some common ground. The client is always in control, he/she will usually experience some degree of mental or physical relaxation similar to day-dreaming or meditation, and will hear what the therapist is saying. The client does not talk nor reveal information when they are in this relaxed state. At each session you will be sitting comfortably in a chair. Your eyes will be closed and you will simply listen comfortably. If you relax deeply enough, you may not even hear some of the words. Either way, there is nothing at all that you have to do or say. In fact..
THE
MORE THAT HAPPENS. The deep-process part of the session can be likened to a guided meditation. |
Each individual responds differently to a therapeutic situation, so it is impossible to accurately predict exactly how many sessions a particular person will need. A typical P.S.H. process takes three to four sessions in total, once per week. It's important to emphasise that P.S.H. is the start and not the finish of an internal process, and many clients will experience inner change well after the face-to-face sessions are completed. This integration process will vary from person to person. For some it can be quick and for others it can be more subtle and gradual, so it is important to be patient.
Is P.S.H. Therapy Hypnosis? P.S.H. is not a form of hypnosis. It is a model of therapy that utilises a deep state of mind to access and allow the subconscious to do it's work. It's best described as a meditative therapy.
